3. 2 NEW THINGS
It's definitely interesting the way a school can change in a year. This year at Bowie High School, the schedule has had some slight changes added to it. School now starts at 9:00 instead of 8:50 and it ends at 4:20 instead of 4:10. Not only does this cause snickers, but it's rather frustrating to many older students at Bowie. Many people have complained that it throws them off now and they would prefer to go back to ending school at 4:10.
Another time change is that now the passing periods are only six minutes long instead of seven. Now, it may seem that one minute doesn't make any difference, but when you're in the middle of washing your hands and hear that death sentence of being late ringing in your ears, it becomes a huge realization that even an extra minute is precious. Many students have complained that they feel overly rushed and that it was unnecessary to take off that minute.
4. SPORTS
The beginning of the new school year means that there are new teachers, new students, new classes, but maybe most important - a new football season. At Bowie, school spirit is something that the students bring everyday. This week the cheerleaders have been going around reminding everyone of the game on Friday the 28th against Pflugerville. Eye catching posters have been slapped on the walls with bold letters declaring our soon to be victory. Thursday the 27th, Bowie students of all grades came dressed up as their favorite superheroes, showing that we not only have school spirit, but we are invincible.
