I liked this photo because of how vintage it looks.

I like this photo because you can't really see the person but you know it's a self portrait.

A Husband Took These Photos Of His Wife And Captured Love And Loss Beautifully

1. What emotions did you feel as you worked your way through these images?
I felt sadness and pity.

2. The photographer said this: "These photographs do not define us, but they are us." What do you think about this comment now that you have looked at the photos?
He meant that these pictures were only a part of their life, just one of their situation.

3. Do you think you could shoot photos like this if you were in this situation?
I think it would depend on the situation but I feel like it would be very difficult for me.
4. If you could write Angelo a letter, what would you say to him?
I would thank him for sharing such intimate and personal and sad moments with his wife.

AFRICA AND ABANDONED THEME PARKS

PART 1

1. On your blog post your reactions to what you read and what you saw. How about 3-4 sentences.

I loved how natural the animals were in all of the photos. I also loved how close Nick Brandt got 

to all of the animals individually. Looking at black and white photos always impresses me

because of the use of shadow.

2. Do a google image search for Nick Brandt, find your favorite photo and post it on your blog.

3. Describe it and tell me why its your favorite.

This is my favorite photo because of all the emotion in it and how simple it is.

4. What rules of photography are evident in the photos you selected, be sure to explain the rule to me?
Rule of thirds is definitely present in this photo, the man is off to the left which draws the viewers 
eyes to the left.

5. What kind of camera and lens does he use and why is this important?
Pentax 67II. This is important because he doesn't use zoom or telephoto lenses.

6. What is his reason for taking these photos?
He wants to capture these animals in their state of Being.

7. What is his hope by taking these type of photos?
He wants to show the beauty in all of these animals and preserve them.
8. Find something he has to say about Africa, and post the quote on your blog. 

The animals aren't being preserved. "I didn't see a single wild animal the entire four-hour drive. 
It's not that they've moved elsewhere. It's that they've been wiped out—turned into bushmeat."

PART 2

1. Tell me which amusement park featured in the two articles that you would like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park made you want to go there. Write at least a paragraph.

I'd like to go to the Okpo Land theme park because it seems like the most interesting one. Plus, it's in a different country which makes it a bit more creepier. I think that the whole fact that a young girl died makes it extra horrifying. Anything related to children and death just adds an extra horrific kind of twist to anything I feel.

2. Post one photo from that park. You may use the photos from the link, or you can google an entirely new photo. I would prefer to see a photo of the park in disrepair and not a photo of it when it was still operating.

3. Think of at least FIVE other unusual places you think would be of interest to photographers. List them.

4. Use google or another search engine to research ONE of your five places and see if anyone has already started documenting that place. If you find that someone has already started - post at least one photo of their work.

5. Write a paragraph about why you think that it would be fun to document that location. Tell me what interests you about that place and what kind of photos you could expect to take there.

I'd like to go to an abandoned insane asylum because I think it would be so horrifying yet 

extremely exciting to go through all the hallways and take pictures of everything. I'm not sure 
where they have the scariest insane asylums or if I need to follow certain laws.

6. Tell me what it would take for you to go and take photos at your location. What would you need as far as equipment goes, travel plans, expenses you might encounter and what laws you would have to take into consideration to take photos at your spot.

I'd probably need to drive or fly to the location of the insane asylum, check to see if there are 
any laws against going into an abandoned one, and just take a camera and maybe a tripod.

ACADEMIC SHOOT CRITIQUE AND REFLECTION

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you? 
It was difficult trying to find students in balance with one another. 

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.
Focusing the camera was difficult because our camera worked manually and so that was the main thing I was thinking about while taking the photo especially on rule of thirds.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
I would like to use a different kind of camera and I would also like to go into more classrooms.

4. What things would you do the same?
I would keep the way I was holding the camera the same.

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?
I think that rule of thirds is the easiest.

6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?
I think that balance will be hard to capture.

7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?
I think that all the rules are pretty self explanatory.

B&W PHOTOGRAPHERS PART 3

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them? Post the images with your writing.
I liked William Klein's photos because he used a lot of shadow in them 

2.) Look at those 2 photos you posted last time in the assignment Great Black and White Photographers Part 2. Use your five senses to tell me more about those photos. Answer them on your blog.

I think that it would be a good idea to show a poster because then you can explain easier about the topic. I also think it would be cool to take pictures a lot like the photographers. I think that if students did that then it'll show what we learned.

I think we should be able to use cameras since some people MAY NOT HAVE PHONES.

I could have tried to get a photo of only the girl in a more simple way.

Yes, because both subjects are practically mirroring each other.

Yes, because they are the only thing in the photo besides the wall.

I wish I could have gotten a more artsy framing with a person.
