BIO FOR BLOG

    I'm Eliana Lynch. I'm a junior at James Bowie High School and this is my first year in newspaper. I am an assistant editor for the Entertainment page of the Lone Star Dispatch and I am SUPER pumped to see what awesome stories we bring this year as a team. I am also in Bowie Culinary and enjoy learning new things. I love Robert Downey Jr, and in my free time I enjoy singing, drawing, painting and Krav Maga.

CAR RAID STORY

Audrey Verrett, a junior and James Bowie High school, drives a Chevy Blazer and I interviewed her during lunch about the history of her car.

Many students at school drive cars, but not many drive their family car. Audrey got her license her sophomore year and has been driving the Blazer ever since. The large car is very comfortable and spacious to drive in and seems extremely sturdy on long road trips.

“Whenever we would go to Mississippi or to Louisiana to visit family, we’d always drive the Blazer, Angela and I would just push the seats down in the back and fall asleep for hours.” Verrett stated. “Now, I drive it every where I go.”

Now that Audrey drives the car, she uses a pillow in the drivers seat.

“It’s kinda funny, both Angela and I are on the smaller side so we have to use pillows to reach the pedals and the steering wheel. When I forget my pillow it just seems so weird.” Audrey laughed.  “Sometimes I end up sitting on my jacket or my bag!”

I had noticed the strange collection of CDs that Audrey had all throughout her car and asked her about it.

“Well, I would say that I have an interesting taste in music, ranging from Foster the People to The Rolling Stones.” Verrett said. “I honestly hate listening to the radio, I consider it way too mainstream for me, and I’d much rather listen to my own music.”

Audrey had showed me a little compartment where someone would normally keep their sunglasses, instead when I opened it, an avalanche of bouncy balls fell on top of me.

“See the thing is,” Audrey giggled, “Angela and I always keep bouncy balls in those containers and all around the car, because when it comes down to it, even though both of us are older now, we will always be kids at heart.”
