WILLIAM KLEIN
William Klein was born in New York on April 19,1928 into a Jewish family. He graduated from high school early and went to study sociology in New York at the age of fourteen. He was trained as a painter and studied in Paris with Fernand Leger. However, he was more drawn by photography then by painting pieces of artwork. He did some solo exhibitions in Milan. He became a famous photographer for VOGUE. Even though he had no training in the photography field he won the Prix Nadar in 1957. He has directed many short films including Cassius the Great. Klein was admired for his unique photography skills, he was known for his wide angle and telephoto lenses, natural lighting and most of all: blur.
